Trout Fishing Tackle
Fly rods
Multi-piece, 4, 5, 6 wt., in medium to fast action will cover most of the fishing situation. If you only want to travel with a single rod a 5 wt. would the best choice
Fly reels
Light and of good quality, with extra spool, with single disk drag or pawl drags, perfectly balanced with the rod, with capacity up to 75 - 125 yards, 20 pounds backing.
Fly lines
The most part of river situation will require a floating line, the color is not important, however a weight-forward configuration is absoluty recomended.
A sinking-tip line of 150 - 200 grain is necessary for fishing with streamers on low volume rivers.
Leaders & Tippet
Leaders de 9 ft., 3X and 4X, at least three spare parts for each one, regarding the tippets spools of 2X, 3X and 4X. For both the fluorocarbon is an excellent option, the best ones are manufactured by Seaguar, Frog-Hair and Umpqua.
Migratory Trout and Salmon Fishing Tackle
Fly rods
9 ft., 8 wt. fly rod for steelhead and sea run brown.
10-11 wt., for big King salmon.
The way to ensure success with steelhead is to be able to cover a lot of water in a day’s fishing. Being able to minimize casting fatigue can be a real factor. Good casting skills burn less energy than less casting skills. A light weight powerful rod that cast smoothly at all ranges is essential.
Fly reels
Light and of good quality, with extra spool, with capacity to hold a line and 150 yd., of 30 pound backing.
Fly lines
Floating lines weight-forward, sinking-tip lines and most important a shooting head sinking tip line, like Tenny 200, 300 or shooting line sink V.
Leaders & Tippet
Leaders for floating lines should be 10-12 ft., leaders for sinking tip line or Tenny line should be 4-6 ft., both with 8-15 lb test.
Your tippet 8-15 lb test, we recomended Maxima Chamaleon and Maxima Clear, are sold on small spools wich are 100% reliable in the ten pound testing. Material shoul be sheer resistant as well as have the maximun breaking strength in small diameters.
For king salmon 12-20 lb., test can be Seaguar fluorocarbon leader or Teeny leaders. Tippet material for make your own extra strong leader, Seaguar Grand Max fluorocarbon and Maxima monofilament are good choices, some surprises can weight untill 35 and 44 lbs.
Equipment
Clothing
Thermal underwear, synthetic (non-cotton) materials retain little moisture and wick moisture away from your skin. This is very important when you are walking in waders or when outside temperatures heat up.Fleece jacket and breathable rain jacket.
Wading equipment
Stocking foot, breathable waders, worn with synthetic fiber under-wader wear for maximun confort. Wading belt is strongly recomended
Wading boots
Felt soled wading boots only, cleats and studs produce damage to the rafts.
Complementary equipmen
Fingerless gloves with wool or polypropylene materials, Boat bag, Fishing hat, Polaroid sunglasses, Camera & Film, Sun protection, Camp shoes.

For such is not necessary that you have all the products that we mention, but a reasonable amount of them, that allow you to perform your activity in a satisfactory way.
Regarding the flies, are recommended based on our experience on the different environment and fishing conditions. This is guide of the most effective imitations, is not necessary that you have all of them, but it is required that you possess a good selection of the ones mentioned before.
